Superb pair of carved wood pieces in the shape of a mermaid, 19th century. Very finely carved walnut mermaids. Winding torso. Fine and expressive face topped with a cushion with pompoms at the corners. The tail is superbly made with very realistic scales. These pieces probably served as decorative elements on a piece of finely crafted furniture. Rare pieces in the shape of a boat prow. Very good general condition of conservation.
