Pair of Regency style caned armchairs, 19th century. An interesting pair of armchairs in stained, molded, and carved beechwood. Late 19th-century work. The seats and backs are caned. There is a matching salmon-grey velvet seat cushion to match the armrests. These chairs rest on four cabriole legs with scrolls, carved with acanthus leaves. The front rail is double-curved with crossbars, acanthus leaves, and a scallop shell motif, as seen on the two sides. The armrests are whiplash-shaped and carved like the legs. The top of the back is carved like the front rail. The front of the seat is shaped and molded. The legs are connected by a beautiful molded and carved stretcher with a flower in the center.
