"15th Century Limestone Head"
Limestone fragment of a young woman' s head, possibly depicting the holy virgin Maria. Soft, empathic and serene expression. Origin France between 1420 and 1450. Delicately sculpted with beautiful details still visible such as wavy hair strands, eyes in the shape of hazelnuts which are typically for that period, beautiful anatomy of the face and neck. Some traces of patina created by pollution are still visible and there are some weathered losses on the nose and lips.
