"Niello Silver Box, Russia, 19th Century"
Small nielloed silver box decorated on six sides with typical Russian landscapes and houses. The scenes adorning the lid and the bottom are framed with scrolls. Several hallmarks are visible inside the box, on the lid and on the bottom:
- Title hallmark (84)
- Hallmark of assayer I. Avdeev with mention of the year (И.A/1859)
- Hallmark of Saint George slaying the dragon, indicating that the piece was made in Moscow
- Unidentified silversmith hallmark (п.п)
Slight wear of time.
Good general condition.
