John Joseph Barker was born in Bath in 1824 and died in 1904. John Joseph Barker was the son of the famous painter, Thomas Barker of Bath (1767-1847) and the brother of the artists, Benjamin Baker and Thomas Jones Barker. He took after his father and became known for his scene feeling and landscapes. He lived in the city of Bath during his life and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and the British Institution in London. He also painted interiors, portraits, and historical subjects, borrowing from its atmosphere.
