Artist – Paul Van Hoeydonck (1925–2025)
Paul Van Hoeydonck was a major post-war Belgian artist, born in Antwerp. A figure of European modernism, he explored abstraction, light, industrial materials and Pop Art. His most famous work, Fallen Astronaut, is the only sculpture ever placed on the Moon (Apollo 15, 1971). His protean work combines science, humanism and futuristic aesthetics. He is now considered one of the pioneers of spatial art and the Belgian avant-garde.
