"Yuan Dynasty, Jun Yao Bowl"
Superb Chinese bowl from the Yuan dynasty (1260-1368) in stoneware called JUNYAO. Resting on a small foot, it is covered with a beautiful iridescent blue glaze. Partially cracked. The interior is decorated with a beautiful mauve gradient stain. The ends of the bowl are darker in color which becomes lighter towards the bottom. A few small dents at the foot visible in the photos. No cracks or chips. This bowl is a sumptuous testimony to the mastery of ceramic firing at this time as well as a search for purity and unparalleled sobriety in continuity with the work begun during the Song dynasty.
