Louis XVI Chest Of Drawers, Riesener Stamp, 18th Century
Louis XVI chest of drawers with raised edge, in flamed mahogany and mahogany veneer, opening on the front with 5 drawers on 3 rows. It bears the RIESENER stamp and the JME (Jurande des Maîtres Ébénistes) It rests on 4 spindle legs, finished with gilt bronze clogs. Very pretty original lock entries. It is topped with period Carrara marble, raised edge to follow the shape of the chest of drawers. It measures 112 CM in length, 58 CM in depth and 87 CM in height. It is in very good condition. RIESENER Jean-Henri Jean-Henri Riesener (July 4, 1734 - January 6, 1806) - He received his master's degree on January 23, 1768, the date on which he began to use his own stamp, and, in July 1774, the title of ordinary cabinetmaker of the Furniture of the Crown, replacing Gilles Joubert. The greatest cabinetmaker of his time.
