"Large 18th Century Drawing, St. Thecla Seated On A Lion, In A Landscape With Ruins."
Large and beautiful pen and brown ink drawing over graphite pencil, depicting St. Tecla, seated on a lion, facing forward, with two agents hovering over her head. The saint has her arms crossed over her chest. In the background, the silhouette of a circular Roman building, possibly a circus. At the bottom of the drawing, two sketches of children's heads, slightly eaten away by the iron gall ink. An inscription: "St. Tecla, pray for the dying." Beautiful composition, well centered on the saint. The lion's head is very present, with very detailed graphics. France, 17th or 18th century. Some dirt and small stains.
