Chinese sculpture in Gendiao root wood (根雕), probably thuja or burl wood, representing a traditional character (probably an immortal or a sage). Finely crafted work, expressive details and a beautiful natural patina. Period: late 19th century to early 20th century (late Qing dynasty or Republic of China). Height: 25 cm Very good general condition, with natural traces of time which underline its authenticity. No major breaks.
