Magnificent silver-plated oil and vinegar cruet stand signed Christofle, Charles Christofle period (1844-1860). This refined model features rich chiseled ornamentation: finely openwork floral decoration, neoclassical-inspired foliage and geometric motifs. The central handle stands in the shape of a flowered vase, a true decorative piece in itself. The mount rests on four turned feet, supporting two circular spaces intended to receive oil and vinegar bottles. The whole demonstrates the great expertise of the Christofle house in the 19th century, a pioneer of electroplating silver in France. Marks and hallmarks: CC hallmark (Charles Christofle) with the scales and the caduceus, used between 1844 and 1860.
