Limoges Pâte-sur-pâte Porcelain Plaque Signed Lureau – Madonna And Child, Circa 1900

A refined Limoges pâte-sur-pâte porcelain plaque signed Lureau, depicting the Madonna and Child in a serene and tender embrace. Dating from around 1890–1910, this piece exemplifies the high level of craftsmanship associated with the pâte-sur-pâte technique in Limoges at the turn of the 20th century. Executed in white slip on a deep cobalt blue ground, the figures are delicately modeled in low relief with exceptional attention to detail, recalling the grace and emotional depth of Renaissance devotional imagery. The plaque is signed “Lureau / Limoges” in the lower right corner. It is set in its original period frame.

Porcelain panel: excellent condition, with no damage or restoration.

Frame: original, with numerous small faults consistent with age and handling.
