Le Verrier, Max (1891-1973), French sculptor, publisher and founder. A major signature of the Art Deco movement in France, Max Le Verrier created a number of creations in the 1920s and 1930s, including lamps featuring young women and animal subjects (marabouts, monkeys with umbrellas, mouflons, etc.). Among his many distinctions, he received a gold medal from the first International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts (from which the name Art Deco originated) held in 1925 in Paris, bringing together 21 countries and more than fifty million visitors.
