Allegory clock of the Study of the Empire period in sea green marble and gilt bronze representing a woman leaning on a bookcase terminal indulging in reading. An armillary sphere adjoins the terminal. Model by the bronze maker Jean-Andre Reiche (1752-1817) Bailly clockmaker in Paris, established rue de la loi (now rue Richelieu) in Paris and active in the early years of the 19th century. He was among other things clockmaker to their imperial and royal majesties. Minor wear to the gilding, mechanism to be revised
