Allegory clock of the Study of the Empire period in sea green marble and gilt bronze representing a woman leaning on a bookcase terminal indulging in reading. An armillary sphere adjoins the terminal. Model by the bronze maker Jean-Andre Reiche (1752-1817) Bailly clockmaker in Paris, established rue de la loi (now rue Richelieu) in Paris and active in the early years of the 19th century.
