The Tadolini Workshop was founded in 1818 when Antonio Canova, at the height of his fame, gave his sculpture workshop to his favorite student, Adamo Tadolini. This workshop is located in the artistic district, at the corner of Via del Babuino and Via dei Greci. The workshop remained in the Tadolini family for several generations, passing from father to son. After Adamo, the workshop was run by his sons Scipione and Tito, then by Giulio and finally by Enrico until 1967. Our marble dates from the period when Scipione and Tito ran the workshop. The Tadolini workshop is renowned for its Neoclassical works, largely influenced by the work of Antonio Canova, Adamo Tadolini's master.
This figure represents a woman seated on a rock through which a small stream flows. She is depicted with delicate features and a graceful posture. A drape partially envelops her body and reveals a generous chest. Her right hand delicately holds a blossoming flower bud. Her hair is styled in an elaborate manner inspired by Antiquity. The whole gives off an impression of serenity and timeless elegance.
