PAIR OF OFFICER'S FLINTLOCK PISTOLS, SIGNED "DUMAREST À PARIS", Restoration. 30872Octagonal rifled barrels, slightly blundered at the muzzle, smooth and blued, hallmarked "LC", length 19.5 cm, with the breech tang 24 cm, caliber 17 mm. Flat-bodied flintlock locks, signed "DUMAREST à paris". Long-barreled walnut stock. Finely checkered and sloped stock. Breech tang surrounds carved with foliage. All fittings in polished steel cut and engraved with floral motifs. Octagonal caps decorated with a flower. Polished steel ramrod holders. Wooden ramrods with polished steel nail heads. Total length of each pistol 33 cm. France. Restoration. Good condition, pistols remained in their original state with barrels having retained their original blueing, very slight oxidation to the steel (easily cleanable). NOTE: DUMAREST, arquebusier-manufacturer in Paris from 1823 to 1850. Under the Restoration he was established at 3 rue Française, until 1830.
