Shahsavan consisting, in the central part made of soumak, of a striped pattern with zoomorphic spiders. On both sides, a red and black kilim on one side, and orange and black on the other, completes this soumak.

The territory of the shahsavans is located south and west of the Caspian Sea, in Iranian Azerbaijan. Made up of Kurdish, Persian, Turkish, Tajik and Caucasian ethnic groups, the Shahsavan confederation was formed under the reign of the Safavid ruler Shah Abbas (reigned 1587-1629).
