Lot Of 3 Antique Large Hand-painted Faience Plates Verbanum Stone Laveno

Set of three large hand-painted majolica serving plates. One of the plates is slightly more concave than the others and shows more signs of use, as evidenced by the rim’s faded blue color compared to the other two.
On the reverse, the mark “Verbanum Stone Laveno” is visible, along with the production date 1916 and the initials SCI, referring to the Società Ceramica Italiana.

The Società Ceramica Italiana (SCI) was founded in 1856 in Laveno-Mombello, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, by three former employees of the Milanese factory Richard. As early as the first decades of the 20th century, the Verbanum Stone brand was used to identify a strong, glazed earthenware of high quality, often decorated with floral motifs. In 1925, following an agreement with the German firm Rosenthal, the Verbano plant was inaugurated, dedicated to the production of table porcelain and electrical insulators.
