Charles-Alphonse Achille Gumery (1827-1871) is one of the most renowned French sculptors and engravers of the Second Empire. First Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1850. A teacher at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-arts in Paris, Gumery was named a knight of the Legion of Honour on 29 June 1867.
