"The Dying Gaul G. Sommer"
Bronze art "The Dying Gaul", after an antique marble. Roman marble copy kept in the Capitoline Museum in Rome, after a Greek original by Epigonos of Pergamum, sculptor at the court of the Attalid dynasty of Pergamum, lost original, commissioned between 230 and 220 BC, by Attalus I of Pergamum to commemorate his victory over the Gauls. Our bronze is an art cast made by the Sommer workshop around 1870, the date of the opening of the Foundry in association with Augusto Rinaldi, art founder, in Naples, a foundry specializing in the production of art bronzes inspired by antiquity.
