France
A ceremonial waistcoat from the Louis XVI period in cream taffeta embroidered in Beauvais stitch with polychrome silk threads and silver threads. Straight, square cut, with two tab pockets and embroidered buttonholes with nine buttons covered in the same (one button missing). Exotic decoration with large undulating stems laden with imaginary fruits and flowers, reinterpreted from 18th-century herbarium plates. Decoration similar to the Indiennes of the Age of Enlightenment. Sowing with strands and zigzags in the background. Back in cream plush cotton and lining in ecru linen (dusty). Rare small and light soiling (in fact very little visible to the naked eye), the very fine taffeta has retained its glossy finish, like a sheet of paper! Beautiful general condition of color and conservation.
Dimensions: Equivalent to size 36-38 France. Shoulders 36 cm, height 64 cm, chest 95 cm, waist 82 cm, hips 94 cm
