Object description :

"18th Century Silver Wine Taster From Trévoux"
Rare silver tastevin decorated with repoussé, adorned with clusters, leaves and pearled grains in relief. The base is hammered and bears three clearly legible hallmarks of master silversmith Benoît Julien, active in Trévoux in the 18th century, under the sovereignty of the Prince of Dombes. This tastevin illustrates the regional tradition of silversmithing in Trévoux, independent of that of Lyon until 1762. The productions of this jurisdiction are particularly sought after for their singularity and finesse.
