Object description :

"Large Table Stamped Driessin From The Louis XVI Period"
Elegant rectangular dining table in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer.

Opening with two Italian-style side panels, it demonstrates masterful craftsmanship. The understated and refined top rests on four stepped sheathed legs accented with light fluting and ending in bronze sabots. The apron is also stepped, with a geometric architectural shape. The balanced proportions, the purity of the lines, and the quality of the wood make this a high-quality table.

This table is stamped G. DRIESSIN and also bears the hallmark of the Jurande des Menuisiers-Ébénistes JME (Joiners-Cabinetmakers' Guild). Godefroy Driessin, who became a master in 1776, was one of the renowned cabinetmakers of the late reign of Louis XVI. His rare work is distinguished by its rigorous execution and a sure taste for architectural forms, faithful to the neoclassical aesthetic of the period.

High-quality furniture in Cuban mahogany, representative of the refined taste of the late 18th century, the distinctive feature of this table lies primarily in its two pull-outs that reveal an extension on either side, making this table a practical piece of furniture for the period, as a dining table.

This Louis XVI period work is beautifully preserved and boasts a beautiful original patina.
