Poet's CornerAlbumen print, carte de visite size, circa 1850. In the mid-19th century, the Sun Inn, named Poet's Corner, was Manchester's main literary meeting place, a historic timber-framed building. In the late 19th century, the Sun Inn was converted into a bookshop and pastry shop before being finally demolished. H. Petschler & Co. was a Manchester-based photography studio active around the 1860s that contributed to the photographic documentation of Manchester and its surrounding areas. Their work includes landscape and architectural photography, as well as portraits. The Sun Inn Group was led by John Critchley Prince and included among its members, among others, the poets Charles Swain, John Bolton Rogerson, Elijah Ridings, RW Procter, Eliza Battye and Robert Rose. link on the website
