The Carrying of the Cross in carved oak, altarpiece group. On the right, Christ carries the Cross, bent under the weight of his load, while a soldier, in a contorted posture (note the torso position of the soldier's right leg), pulls a lock of his hair, his right foot resting on one of his legs. On the left, Simon of Cyrene relieves Jesus by lifting the stipe. Picturesque attire of the soldier with winged helmet, chainmail, knee pads in the shape of a leafy fleuron. Brabant, circa 1510.
