"Modernist Lacquered Metal Desk Lamp – 1950s"
Charming modernist desk lamp, dating from the 1950s, probably of Belgian or French origin. The functional and clean design of this lamp is emblematic of the post-World War II aesthetic, where form follows function while retaining decorative appeal. The conical shade in textured red lacquered metal contrasts elegantly with the oval base in white painted cast iron, and the curved stem in brass or chrome-plated steel emphasizes the dynamic and asymmetrical line of the model. The original push button is still present, and the whole testifies to a design typical of the European “Mid-Century Modern” style, influenced by the Bauhaus and UAM schools.
