"Pair Of Neo-renaissance Silver-plated Candelabras – 19th Century"
An elegant pair of Neo-Renaissance style candlesticks, in embossed and chiseled silver-plated metal, dating from the second half of the 19th century. Each piece rests on a stepped square base, richly decorated with scrolls, stylized foliage and flowers in relief, typical of 19th century historicist reinterpretations. The slender octagonal shaft is decorated with flattened floral motifs in an architectural frame, evoking the fluted columns of classical buildings. Probably French or Belgian work, without visible hallmark, but of strong ornamental quality. Patina of use, localized oxidation and some traces of time, consistent with age.
