Very good general condition, a very slight scratch on the nose

White marble medallion carved in high relief, representing a young woman in a pensive attitude, her head slightly tilted and her fingers placed on her cheek. She is wearing a veil crossed around her head and a coat with wide pleats, the drapery of which is finely rendered.
This idealized female portrait is fully in line with the romantic and neo-Renaissance aesthetic of the 19th century, then very popular in Italian and European artistic circles.
Signed on the edge: T. Angelino, Italian sculptor active in the second half of the 19th century. His name is associated with several carefully crafted medallion portraits, sometimes inspired by antique or religious models.
