Jean Baptiste GOURDIN (1723-1791), received Master cabinetmaker on March 26, 1748.
Coming from an illustrious family of Parisian carpenters, he is the son of the so-called Père Gourdin (jean). He will begin his training, not with a carpenter, but with the famous sculptor Toussaint FOLIOT, to later set up on his own rue de Cléry.
He will work in particular for the Duke of Rohan, but especially for Marie Antoinette.
We can admire some of her seats at the Louvre, or even at the Museum of Decorative Arts.
