Width Of Satin And Moiré Silk Faille In The Style Of Hector Guimard - Art Nouveau Period
Circa 1900
France
Precious width in moiré and satin silk faille from an unidentified Lyon manufacturer such as Tassinari & Chatel or Bianchini-Férier. Tones in tone-on-tone brilliance of an off-white with the typical Parisian graphics of Hector Guimard. Beautiful graphic balance with a measured and undulating design of Art Nouveau curves laden with pistil tulips. Technically, it is a fluted faille, satin-edged for the flowers, then passed under double rollers to flatten the wefts, allowing this moiré effect of the background. Width never used and therefore in excellent condition. No defects.
Dimensions: 450 cm x 56 cm wide with its original selvedges.
