Rare Empire mythological clock representing the god Zephyr. Zephyr (or Zephyrus), is the Greek god of the west wind. The gentlest of the winds, known as the fruitful wind, the messenger of spring. Empire clock in gilded bronze resting on feet in the shape of butterfly wings. The base is decorated with a frieze representing the goddess Aphrofite surrounded by flowers and trees. In Greek mythology, Aphrodite emerges from the waves and is carried to the island of Cyprus by the wind Zephyr. Zephyr confides Aphrodite to the Hours (servants of the gods who will later personify the four seasons) who will complete her education. The latter offers her a golden belt that will make her irresistible. Pendulum with wire suspension and anchor escapement. Has its key.
