Lalique is an iconic house of French luxury and craftsmanship, founded by René Lalique in 1921.
Located in Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace, it is renowned for its crystal creations, notably its iconic vases, jewelry, glasses and decorative objects. Lalique is famous for its style inspired by women, fauna and flora, a direct legacy of the artistic vision of its founder, a great master of Art Nouveau.
The manufacture uses traditional techniques such as lost wax casting, adapted by René Lalique for jewelry and then for larger glass pieces. The manufacturing process is very meticulous, with hot work to shape the molten crystal, followed by cold work to cut and finish.
Lalique particularly favors opal crystal, which gives a characteristic matte and satiny appearance, distinctive compared to other crystal works like Baccarat which polish their pieces to a shiny finish.
