Sumptuous pair of Louis XVI period candlesticks with the hallmark of the town of Ath in Hainaut. The vintage hallmark is 1784, the master goldsmith hallmark is a crowned D for Louis François Delwarde, a goldsmith of whom relatively few pieces are found. He was born in 1717 and became a master in Ath in 1754. The candlesticks are very abundantly decorated with everything that the neoclassical decorative register had to offer. They are in perfect condition. A rare occurrence for a pair of Belgian candlesticks: they have their pair of matching period bobeches. Weight 825 grams
