The gilded bronze figures, representing Cupid as a child and Chronos lying on the ground, are the work of François Gigardon.
This model of clock, with a few variations, is found in important museums.
This copy is distinguished by finely sculpted acanthus leaves on either side of the dial, its drapery placed heavily on the base and its imposing feet in the form of pilasters, details significantly reminiscent of the one preserved at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles (USA).
Our clock was made in the 19th century , around 1860 - 1870.
Napoleon III period.
A model of extraordinary quality , also very sought after, which rarely appears on the art market.
