Rare sculpture by Constantin Meunier. There is a copy of this sculpture in the Constantin Meunier Museum. It comes from the artist's daughter. The work is accompanied by a letter as well as an old photo and a photo of the work which is in the center of a fresco. The panel which is exhibited at the museum is from the same foundry as the sculpture in the wheat. To date 2 known explanations. Constantin Meunier and Auguste Rodin were two major sculptors of the 19th century, recognized for their contributions to modern sculpture. Although their works had distinct themes and styles, they were both interested in the expression of the human body and realism, and were influenced by each other's work. The Verbeyst Brussels foundry was active from 1899 to 1907.
