"Max Le Verrier - "the Rain", Monkey Lamp In Spelter With Green Patina. Art Deco Period "
Magnificent bedside lamp with a monkey carrying an umbrella in spelter with a green patina. Art Deco period work entitled "The Rain" with the lampshade in frosted glass. The sculpture rests on an octagonal black marble base. Sculpture in perfect condition, electrified, the umbrella covers two screw bulbs. Max the glassmaker designed this lamp between 1925 and 1927. He regularly went to the Jardin des Plantes and it was there that he met "Bambou" a three-year-old chimpanzee whom he found particularly amusing. A true friendship was born between Boubou and the person who immortalized him. Bambou posed for Max Le VERRIER in exchange for bananas. The sketches lasted for some time and Bambou impatiently waited for Max Le Verrier every morning to begin the sessions. This model was awarded a prize at the Salon des Humoristes in Paris in 1927.
