Burlesque genre scene attributed to the Dutch painter Andries Both (active around 1610–1650), one of the representatives of the Caravaggio school of Utrecht. The work depicts two popular figures in a comical pose: an old woman seems to be treating or examining the posterior of a man leaning on a cane. The expressive treatment of the faces and the humorous tone are characteristic of Andries Both's style, influenced by Italian street scenes and grotesque figures.
