Guillerme and Chambron first met in 1940 in a stalag in East Prussia. While prisoners, they became friends, but the early post-war years kept them apart. A graduate of the Boule school in 1934, Robert Guillerme put his talent to work for the Rogier workshops, a major firm in the Lille region. Jacques Chambron, a graduate of the Reims School of Applied Arts, had his own painter-decorator's studio in Paris. In 1948, Chambron and his family left the capital to settle in Lille. The two men, who met there, then crossed paths with Emile Darioseq, owner of a cabinetmaking workshop looking for new opportunities: Votre Maison was born a year later, in 1949. Guillerme designed the furniture, Chambron acted as a salesman, welcoming and advising customers, and the Darioseq workshops took care of manufacturing. Together, they defined a new concept in furniture. It was by combining functionality and design that Guillerme and Chambron created their worldwide reputation, while leaving a lasting mark on the world of design. 20th Century Period Furniture, Circa 1960.
