Oil On Panel, Angelo Pavan "marina: Sailing Ship At Rest", 1942

Angelo Pavan is a Veneto painter trained at the School of Drawing and Plastics at the Accademia Olimpica in Vicenza. He is known for his landscapes, particularly lagoon views of Venice and Chioggia, but also mountains often with Divisionist references and mellow brushstrokes.
The painting depicts a seascape with boats. In the foreground, a large sailing ship dominates, flanked by a small rowing boat; on the right are mooring poles. The style is realistic, with visible brushstrokes and soft colours creating a serene atmosphere.

There is a contemporary frame measuring 51x44.5x5 cm. The work is in a good state of preservation and is signed in the lower left-hand corner “A. Pavan”. On the back of the panel there are inscriptions: 'Veliero in riposo. Angelo Pavan. To dear Irisi. Venice' and a slightly misspelled date “42”.
