Vienna Bronze Representing A Chamois, 19th Century

Superb naturalistic Vienna bronze representing a chamois lying down, one paw forward. It is placed on a small oval wooden base.

Vienna bronzes developed in the Austrian capital from 1850. With very varied subjects, ranging from animal figures to small orientalist scenes, they are characterized by great attention to detail and expression. Each piece is unique, the chiseling and finishing being done by hand, and the colors are cold painted. Generally small in size, sometimes measuring a few millimeters, some Vienna bronzes can also measure up to a meter.

Very slight accidents on the edge of the base.
Good general condition.
