Under the inscription “Bonne Fête”, a group of elegant and exuberant characters dance or parade in a lively setting. In the background, we see the Panthéon of Paris and a monumental statue, placing the scene in a symbolic republican framework. The style, caricatural and expressive, evokes the spirit of the Parisian revues of the Belle Époque, between social satire and popular celebration. The costumes, hats and attitudes of the characters are typical of 1900 fashion. A woman in the foreground, in a long dress, is drawn into a round dance or farandole where bourgeois, artists, and perhaps political figures mingle. The whole is done in a limited palette, with subtle highlights of pink, sepia and black.
