"Engraved Portrait Of Turenne, Decorated With A Watercolor Marie Louise "
Amazing little frame, where the subject (a portrait of Turenne in tondo) is engraved, but where the Marie Louise is remarkably drawn in watercolor to form a frame imitating the engravings and paying homage to the famous general of the Sun King. A sword, a book, a laurel wreath, his dates of life and death are the panoply of this elegant drawing. A dry stamp in the name of C. Bernard, shows that this artist had to create works of this type for 19th century collectors. The baguette, although fine, is of remarkable quality. Never opened, a small tear in the gilding due to a too screwed-in stud, otherwise very good condition.
