A kneeling young woman appears to be in a mocking mood. Bronze with brown patina shaded with antique green - With paulownia presentation box. Signed with the monogram "B". -- Son of a sculptor. He studied modeling in Tokyo with Fumio Watanabe from 1928. In 1931, he entered the Kozosha Sculpture Research Institute. In 1939, and was selected for the Shinbunten (Revival Exhibition) with a female subject - From 1942 he worked for the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Sports Museum. In 1944 he changed his first name => "Bido". He belonged to the Japan Ceramic Sculpture Association, founded in 1951. In 1953, he became a member of Nikikai (Fine Arts Academy). He created approximately 1,000 works during his lifetime. Including public monuments (Kasugayama Castle, etc.) and a number of statues for temples. Like many of his generation, his art was influenced by European sculpture. He was affiliated with the “Kokugakai” (artists’ association) advocating total freedom of expression, in a Western style, since 1928. A certificate and biography will be given to the purchaser. 4.3 kg
