"Pair Of Walnut Armchairs, Louis XV Period."
Elegant pair of Louis XV period armchairs à la reine, in molded and carved walnut. These flat-backed armchairs feature the typical lines of the Louis XV style: scalloped belt with a pretty cutout in curves and counter-curves on the front seat crossbar, curved consoles and armrests with upholstered cuffs, cambered legs ending in a scroll. The carved decoration, sober and refined, consists of delicately executed flowers and foliage, notably on the top of the back and the front crossbar. Restored and reupholstered in the traditional manner about fifteen years ago (straps and horsehair), entirely usable, they retain their upholstery in good condition. They were reupholstered at great expense with a sumptuous green crushed velvet with a pomegranate motif, with elegant reflections and a luxurious texture. Slight wear is visible on one of the cuffs, without detracting from the overall effect. French work, mid-18th century. Dimensions: Backrest height: 94.5 cm Seat height: 40 cm Width: 67 cm Depth: 62 cm
