"Hsc Painting Eugène Malonga View Of African Village Congo Landscape Africa 20th Century"
Oil on cardboard signed Eugène Malonga* representing a view of an African village in Congo, animated by a few characters, with some huts and beautiful palm trees, from the 20th century. This painting is in good condition. Signed at the bottom. Please note: traces of oxidation at the tips of the frame around the edge, dirt and wear of time, see photos. * Eugène Malonga (1930-2005) is a Congolese painter. He is considered one of the five founders of Congolese painting, non-existent before 1940. He began drawing at a young age and then perfected his skills at the École des Peintres de Poto-Poto, founded in 1951 by Pierre Lods. In 1961, Malonga obtained a six-month advanced training scholarship for the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs where, after a test, he was directly placed in the fourth year (the year he left). Among the decisive encounters, it is worth mentioning that of Roger Erell, architect of the Basilica of Saint Anne of the Congo in 1945, who introduced him to drawing, and that of Gaspard de Mouko, painter of Cameroonian origin, in the 1940s. Malonga has exhibited his works fairly regularly since 1954, once a year, he has exhibited in West Africa (Dakar, Djamena) but much more in Central Africa (Brazzaville, Libreville, Bangui and Kinshasa). His work includes many landscapes and some portraits. His favorite motifs are landscapes and genre scenes, with an evolution towards semi-abstraction. In the last ten years, he has returned to his love of realism. Artist listed on ArtPrice. Dimensions: 46.5 cm x 42.3 cm Reference: 900 760 All photos are on: www.antiques-delaval.com
