Refined pair of covered porcelain vases made in France in the second half of the 19th century, in the Sèvres style, with finely chiseled gilt bronze mounts. The total height is approximately 63 cm.
The porcelain is glazed in a deep lapis blue (“bleu de Sèvres”), enriched with hand-painted gold rocaille ornamentation. Each vase features a romantic scene, hand-painted and signed Neuville:
one shows a young mother with children in a pastoral landscape,
the other depicts an elegant couple in a garden setting.
The reverse sides display delicate romantic landscapes in pastel tones, framed by gold garlands. The gilt bronze handles depict classical female heads, adorned with flowing hair and ribbons. The shaped bases are adorned with gilt bronze scrollwork, beading, and foliate motifs.
