A beautiful oak and iron alms box (Offertory Box / Poor Box /Mite Box) in good original condition with the original chain.  A poor box, alms box, offertory box, or mite boxis a box that is used to collect coins for charitable purposes. They are foundin most Christian churches built before the 19th century and were the mainsource of funds for poor relief. The key is missing, which is often the case withthese pieces. The only thing is that it is locked and the lock plate does notfit unless it is opened. Probably someone handy with locks can directly open itor find a key for it that does fit (it is a simple lock). Furthermore in great condition.

Height: 21 c.m.
