Hsp Painting John Strevens Ballerinas Young Dancers Ballet Girls 20th Century

Oil on panel signed Strevens* depicting three young ballet dancers or ballerinas in tutus, seated and talking to each other (possibly a portrait of the painter's three daughters), from the 20th century. This painting is in good condition. It is under glass. Signed at the top. Note: some wear from time on the frame, see photos. * John Frederick Lloyd Strevens (1902-1990) was a British artist who exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Paris Salon. Strevens was born in London and studied at Heatherley's School of Fine Art, but was largely self-taught. He regularly used his wife and daughters as models for his paintings. In the 1960s, he became particularly known for his oil paintings of children and flowers and was a successful portraitist. Many of his paintings of children and flowers were made into prints. Two of Strevens' paintings are in the British Council collection. Artist highly rated on Artprice.
