Numbered copy on vellum from the Navarre paper mills in Voiron with a print run of 2050 copies, first edition. André Gide is a French writer of Protestant origin. He is in constant conflict between his impulses, his education, and his morality. He is one of the founders of the "Nouvelle Revue Française", based on the Gallimard publishing house. He is one of the first to fight against colonialism and to understand the illusions of the USSR and fascism. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1951.
