Pierre-Eugène Clairin (March 14, 1897, Cambrai – July 7, 1980, Thorigné-en-Charnie) was a versatile French artist: painter, engraver, lithographer, illustrator. Influenced by the Pont-Aven school and the Nabi tradition, his work combines landscape painting, wood engraving and color lithography. Trained in the Nabi spirit, influenced by his stays in Brittany, North Africa and the Île-de-France region, he left behind a rich and diverse body of work, praised by his peers and institutions, and worked for culture and freedom. His maritime work dates mainly from the 1920s to the 1950s, during which he intensively explored Brittany, influenced by Gauguin and the painters of Pont-Aven. On view at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, at 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
